These Terms of Service govern access to and use of OriginProof. By using OriginProof, you agree to these terms.

1. Service Scope

OriginProof is a digital proof-of-existence service. It generates and records a cryptographic fingerprint, timestamp, proof identifier, and related proof metadata for submitted digital content.

OriginProof does not provide copyright registration, legal ownership registration, authorship verification, identity verification, or legal advice.

2. What OriginProof Does

When you submit content, OriginProof may generate and store:

  • a SHA256 fingerprint of the submitted content;
  • a UTC timestamp;
  • a Proof ID;
  • selected metadata you provide, such as title, source context, registrant name, and optional profile URL;
  • a certificate and a public verification record.

The original uploaded file is processed for hashing and is not intended to be retained as part of the proof record.

3. No Ownership or Authorship Determination

A proof record shows that a specific digital fingerprint was recorded by the service at a particular time. It does not prove that you are the author, rightful owner, or first creator of the underlying work.

You are solely responsible for the claims you make about any proof record and for any supporting evidence you may use outside the service.

4. User Responsibilities

You agree that you will:

  • submit only content you are legally permitted to process through the service;
  • provide accurate metadata to the extent you choose to provide it;
  • not use the service to harass, defraud, impersonate, or mislead others;
  • not use the service to generate false claims of ownership, authorship, endorsement, or legal rights;
  • not attempt to abuse, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the service.

5. Prohibited Content and Use

You may not use OriginProof for unlawful, infringing, abusive, fraudulent, or harmful activity, including:

  • content that violates applicable law;
  • content that infringes third-party intellectual property or privacy rights;
  • spam, automated abuse, or attempts to bypass anti-bot protections;
  • malicious files or material intended to compromise service integrity.

OriginProof may restrict, suspend, remove, or refuse service where abuse, fraud, or security risk is reasonably suspected.

6. Public Verification Records

Proof pages, verification links, badges, and certificates are designed to be shareable. Information included in the proof record may therefore become publicly visible when a verification page or certificate is accessed or shared.

Do not include confidential, secret, or sensitive personal information in metadata that you do not want associated with a public proof record.

7. Intellectual Property

You retain whatever rights you may hold in your submitted content. These terms do not transfer ownership of your content to OriginProof.

OriginProof retains all rights in the service itself, including its software, design, branding, and documentation.

8. Availability and Changes

The service may change, improve, pause, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent storage, or compatibility with every device, browser, or integration.

9. Disclaimers

OriginProof is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability.

We do not warrant that a proof record will be legally sufficient for your particular dispute, claim, jurisdiction, or evidentiary need.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OriginProof and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, business opportunity, or legal claims arising from or related to use of the service.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OriginProof and its operators from claims, losses, liabilities, and costs arising out of your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms.

12. Privacy

Use of the service is also governed by the Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
